Action Against Hunger is delighted to have Professor MS Swaminathan as the Chairperson Emeritus of our Board. Professor Swaminathan is a member of the Indian Parliament, an Honorary Chairman of the FAO Council and the Chairman of the National Commission on Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Security.Professor Swaminathan was the very first recipient of the World Food Prize, which he received for advancing human development through increased quantity, quality and accessibility of food.He has also received the UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Gold Medal for his outstanding work in extending the benefits of biotechnology to marginalised and poverty-stricken populations in developing countries. He has been honoured by the Government of France and has received the Ordre du Merite Agricole, for his services of the highest quality to the cause of agriculture 1997.
Mr Kakkar is the President of Mercury travels and of the Association of Travel agencies in India. He is also a member of the International Board of INSEAD. Mr Kakkar received the National Order of Merit of the French Government in 2007, in recognition of his contribution towards the promotion of French/Indian relations.

Mr Rangachari is former diplomat and is also the former director of the MMAJ Academy of International Studies in New Delhi. He has held a number of posts in several continents during his career working for UN agencies and not for profits. He represented India on the boards of UNICEF, UNDP and UNFPA.
Vipul Jain is the Chairman of the NGO catalyst for social action and Managing Director of Accelya Kale Solutions Ltd. Vipul is also a recipient of Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Award in the outstanding category for the India Chapter in 2015 for creating a leading software product company in Accelya Kale and his passionate contribution to social sector.
In 1979 Denis Metzger participated in the creation of Action Contre la Faim (ACF) and became President of ACF France and served as Chairman of its International board from 2006 to 2010.He is also a Founding Member of the “Institut National pour la Simplification” (1992), of the “Appel pour le Combat de l’Abbé Pierre” (1994), of Droit d’Urgence (1995), and of Action Against Hunger India (2013) and he still acts as its Advisory Committee Chairman.Denis Metzger has had a professional career in merchant banking, working with JP Morgan (in London and New York), then with Charterhouse (France) as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman until 2000. Since 2001, he is the Executive President of Chequers Capital, a pan-European investment company.
Mr. Rohan Parikh is the Managing Director at the Apurva Natvar Parikh Group. The group has a diversified presence in real estate development, logistics, shipping, education and hospitality.
Vinay Iyer is a humanitarian and development professional with more than 15 years’ experience across various national and international organizations. Previously, he was with the American India Foundation where he successfully spearheaded the installation of portable COVID-19 hospitals across 37 locations in India. The project was primarily supported by the Principal Scientific Advisor’s office, Government of India. During his stint with Save the Children India, he led the implementation of the largest resilience-building project by integrating disaster risk reduction, child sensitive social protection, and technology. The project covered 300 rural and 50 urban wards with varied hazard profiles across five states in India.
As an active member of the Registered Engineers for Disaster Relief (RedR), India, he delivered over 35 training programs for various UN agencies, international NGOs and corporate organizations. Over the last 10 years, he was actively involved in responding to major disasters in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Vinay earned a Master of Social Work from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat and a Master’s in International Humanitarian Action from Uppsala University, Sweden. He was an Erasmus Mundus scholar.
Dr. Ulhas is Chief Operations Officer at Action Against Hunger – India Head Quarter. He is a Medical Doctor by profession completed Medical Graduation from University of Mumbai and Masters in Public Health from SRM University Chennai. He is trained in Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) by CDC-US and NCDC-India. Dr. Ulhas has more than 18 years of experience in the field of public health and has rich experience in working with International Non-Government Organisations & also with Public Health Department of Maharashtra. He holds additional qualifications like MBA (Hospital Management), Fellowship in Industrial Health (AFIH) and Diploma in Disaster Management. He channelizes his energy towards helping underprivileged by using his knowledge. He is looking after operations of AAH Projects across country.
Mamta is the Head of Finance at Action Against Hunger. She is a cost and management accountant with nearly 25 years of experience in the field of finance and accounts. She has experience in different industries like media, retail, manufacturing, and non-profits. In the past, she has worked with organizations such as Magic Box Productions, Sankalp Retail Value Stores, Ginza Industries, and Magic Bus India Foundation.
Dr. Patil is the Technical Lead at Action Against Hunger. He is a public health scientist with expertise in Maternal-Newborn-Child Health and WASH. He also leads the Research, Innovation and Design lab at Action Against Hunger.He has completed his Masters in Public Health (MPH) from University of North Texas Health Science Center, USA. He has previously worked with institutions such as Society for Eduction, Action, and Research in Community Health (SEARCH) Gadchiroli, India, Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Communication Programs (JHUCCP), and Community Empowerment Lab (CEL) Lucknow, India. Dr. Patil has led various public health projects, designing and implementing innovative solution toward solving various community health challenges.
Deepali comes with two decades of experience with the development sector in India. Completed M.Phil and worked as a Gender trainer and programme evaluator with focus on Gender and Child development. Her first full time job was as Programme officer in ActionAid International where she worked for eleven years (1997- 2007). From there on she moved to Tata Institute of Social science for two years (2008-2010) and subsequently CRY (Child Rights & You) where she worked for six years as the Associate General Manager looking after Maharashtra and Goa (2010-2015). She has worked with Concern India Foundation, Child Fund International, ActionAid, SPJIMR for evaluation and studies as consultant from 2015-2020. Subsequently joined a USAID project for West Bengal to conduct trainings and pilots for women’s empowerment in rural Bengal for one year (2020- 2022) before joining AAH as Director MEAL.
Mehar has joined in the capacity of General Manager HR at Action Against Hunger – India Head Quarter. She is a ‘People-oriented Professional’ with 13+years of experience in HR & Recruitments along with deep involvement in Strategic Management, Business Partnering, Talent Management, Behavioural Interviewing & Performance Management. She has done her Post Graduation in HR from Welingkars Institute of Research & Management, Mumbai & Executive Development Program in Talent Management from XLRI, Jamshedpur. In the past Mehar has worked with companies like JP Morgan Chase, Kelly Services, Development Dimensions International & so-on. She strongly believes in ownership, teamwork & adaptability. Mehar enjoys reading self-improvement books & is often found meditating during her free time.
