DESIGNATIO: Program Manager

PROJECT/DEPT/FUNCTION: Programs

REPORTING TO: PROGRAM MANAGER – MUMBA

LOCATION: SATHENAGAR (GOVANDI), MUMBAI

Action Against Hunger (registered as Fight Hunger Foundation) is an Indian not-for-profit, exclusively committed to eradicating child undernutrition, through a three pillared approach of raising awareness, implementing direction intervention projects in vulnerable geographies and conducting research to understand the underlying causes of malnutrition.

1- KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and expansion of assigned project/program under the guidance of the Program Manager-Mumbai
  • Monitor timely and effective implementation of project activities in accordance with assigned work plan and outcomes
  • Monitor timely and effective implementation of nutrition with an agreed/approved work plan
  • Planning and implementing malnutrition prevention and treatment activities in the field
  • Manage the logistic, financial and human resource aspects of the project including developing skills of partner staff involved in the project
  • Conduct market assessment and shortlist vendors for procurement
  • Collect and analyse information on food security and on the populations’ living conditions in order to develop a detailed seasonal calendar
  • Provide regular and timely statistical and narrative reports on the project

2- KEY INTERNAL/EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS

Internal

  • Program Manager – Mumbai: hierarchical relationship
  • Field Officer(s): direct report and delegation of project deliverables
  • Administration Assistant/Officer: collaboration on planning of logistics, purchases, recruitment and training
  • Project teams at other locations: Cross functional learning and exchange of intervention strategies
  • HR team: planning and recruitment of human resources, and capacity building
  • Finance team: planning and utilization of project budgets
  • MEAL team: exchange of information
  • Fundraising team – collaborating on funder visits and volunteering opportunities

External

  • NHM, ICDS, Municipal Corporations, Public Hospitals: exchange of information, collaboration on initiatives and interventions

3- KEY REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Nutrition/Public Health/Social Work OR BAMS, BHMS with PG in Public Health.
  • At least 4-5 years of experience in similar capacity managing large teams
  • Desired experience: Domain knowledge of nutrition/public health issues and working with government systems
  • IT proficiency and knowledge of some data software
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, working knowledge of Hindi and local language
